Morbid London

Every city has a dark side... and some are much darker than others. London has been described as "a spectral city, so filled with imitations of its past that it haunts its own inhabitants".

From the toturous Tower of London to the vampire-crazed digging up of Highgate Cemetery, there are endless tales of spirits and specters eminating from the Big Smoke. 

Whilst re-visiting my birthplace and thinking about the new collection I'd been working on, it seemed fitting that I paid homage to my hometown and the macabre history it holds. 💀 

50 BERKELEY SQ.

50 Berkeley Square is a haunted townhouse on Berkeley Square in Mayfair, central London. In the late 19th century it became known as one of the most haunted houses in London, with its attic room said to be haunted by the spirit of a young woman who had committed suicide there.

Occupied from 1859 until the early 1870s by Thomas Myers, who was rumoured to have been rejected by his fiancée. He lived alone and it was said that he locked himself inside and slowly went mad until his death at the age of 76 in November 1874. During his residence in the house it fell into gross disrepair and its reputation began to develop. It is rumoured that the apparition that people have seen years after is that of Myers. 

The 50 Berkeley Sq baroque wax melts are scented with gentle jasmine, patchouli and vetiver and rests on a musky bed of amber and sandalwood. These wax melts are gentle and delicate, much like the apparitions of the haunted house it's based on.
